Living Technologies will be utilising the Tata Communications CDN which is being deployed in South Africa through their local operation, namely Neotel. The CDN network will be used for delivery of the Living Web service as well as numerous other CDN related services outlined in this document. Our background to the Internet and the technologies currently available have also allowed the business to identify the need for SME training with respect to marketing their organisations on the Internet and ensuring that they are able to create a website that attracts customers and converts them from website visitors to sales leads to customers. We are a private company and seek to focus on products and services which can provide growth opportunities for the business and the shareholders with a steady and sustainable return on their investment in Living Technologies.
Our Background
It is confidently predicted that within the next few years, a billion connected computers will generate e-commerce transactions in excess of $1 000 billion annually. With competition for products and services only a ‘mouse click’ away, businesses that do not embrace this technology and develop competitive e‐commerce strategies and solutions will not survive. In South Africa and all other SADEC Countries, notwithstanding lower levels of computer literacy and infrastructural development capacity than more developed countries, use of the internet has been growing at over 100% per year and there are now approximately 5,300,000 internet users in South Africa in 2010. South African research house BMI‐Tech predicts that R35-billion will be spent online in South Africa by the year 2012.
The ‘web’ offers an excellent platform, and indeed the only platform to radically enhance face‐to-face and current manual and electronic communication with suppliers and customers and to transact business. Already now and even more in the future, using the internet will be the most effective way to make it easy for people and firms to do business with each other, to streamline customer interactions, to communicate more effectively with the right customers, to build customer loyalty and to use customer information with maximum effect. The harsh reality is that businesses that ignore e‐commerce or are not prepared to vigorously embrace it will be left out in the cold.
